Assured Grounding
This program is designed to ensure that all Fred Shearer & Sons power tools, electrical equipment, and cords meet the requirements set forth by OSHA Standard 20 CFR 1926 Subpart K Electrical.
This program has been implemented and will be administered by a competent person designated by FSS and defined by OSHA.
OSHA requires two tests to be performed before electrical equipment is available for use.
Continuity Test – This test ensures that the equipment grounding conductor is continuous and functioning properly.
Terminal Connection Test – This test ensures that the equipment grounding conductor is correctly installed and connected to the proper terminal.
These tests are required to be performed:
· Prior to use
· After repairs
· After any suspected damage
· Every quarter
A visual inspection is required for each piece of electrical equipment, cord, and power tool, before use each day. If there is any damage to the exterior insulation, plug, prongs, etc., take it out of service immediately and mark it with a red tag. Contact your foreman or EHS professional for assistance in getting the item repaired.
All tools, equipment and cords will be marked with the appropriate color tape for the present quarter. This will be done after the item has been fully inspected and before item is returned to use. Any item participating in the AEGP that is improperly marked after the third day of the quarter will be taken out of service until it has been properly inspected and marked.
The color coding is as follows:
· January, February, March – White
· April, May, June – Green (Intel Fab is Blue)
· July, August, September – Red
· October, November, December – Orange (Intel Fab is Brown)
All testing and auditing will be conducted by a member of the EHS team, or a trained person as designated by FSS.
